The Story Behind Pawsome Rawsome

I set up Pawsome Rawsome Ltd in March 2021, and I can honestly say it has been one incredible rollercoaster of a journey! Starting a business during such uncertain times certainly wasn’t easy, but it has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. I wanted to build a business where I could share my passion for animals, work for myself, and, most importantly, bring my dogs to work with me!

My three dogs—Dave, Ralph, and Aya—are a huge part of my life, along with my two cats, CeCe and Sealy. They are very much part of the Pawsome Rawsome family too. After all, what better way to get through a busy day than with a few doggy cuddles?

From a Risky Beginning to an Award Finalist

The early days were a massive challenge. Opening a retail shop during the tail end of the lockdown period was worrying, particularly when so many businesses were struggling or closing their doors. In the beginning, I worked tirelessly between the shop and a local COVID testing site, doing everything I could to keep the business moving forward.

There were times when things were incredibly difficult, and I genuinely wasn’t sure whether the business would survive. Because I believed so strongly in what Pawsome Rawsome could become, I made the deeply personal decision to invest money from my private pension on multiple occasions to support the business. For me, it wasn’t just about keeping the shop open; it was about protecting our staff and avoiding making anyone redundant.

That period taught me everything about determination and resilience. Today, I am incredibly proud to say that Pawsome Rawsome Ltd has recently been nominated for the Animal Star Awards and has made it through to the finals! It means the world to have our hard work and dedication recognised on such a prestigious stage.

More Than Just a Pet Shop

Having raw-fed my own dogs for many years, I know that choosing the right diet can sometimes feel overwhelming. My aim from day one was to create a welcoming space where pet owners could get honest advice, ask questions, and find premium products tailored to their individual pets.

Today, our Grimsby storefront stocks an extensive range of premium products:

And we are not just about food! We host professional dog training advice from Carol Klug BIPDT, alongside our popular, fully equipped DIY Self-Bath facilities. We provide all the professional shampoo and towels—you simply need to bring your dog!

Julie – Director & Owner

Julie is the founder who started it all. Her deep passion for natural pet nutrition and raw feeding was the driving force behind establishing the business in 2021. She handles the daily heartbeat of the shop and loves sharing her wealth of raw feeding knowledge with visiting customers.

Maxine – Accounts

Maxine keeps everything behind the scenes running smoothly. She manages the company accounts, handles backend administration, and ensures the business remains highly organised and ticking along perfectly.

Jemma – Sales Assistant & Photographer

Jemma is one of the friendly faces greeting you at our Grimsby shop. Alongside providing customer support, she is our resident creative talent, capturing all the product and pet photography used across our social media and website.

Mark – IT & Technical Systems

Mark works primarily from home keeping our digital systems online. As a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), he manages our e-commerce website, network infrastructure, and backend security. You might occasionally spot him in the office working intently behind a laptop screen!

Continuous Learning & Improvement

Even though I have raw-fed my pets for years and built up a wealth of practical experience, I believe there is always something new to discover. I regularly undertake new training and professional courses to ensure Pawsome Rawsome provides the highest quality up-to-date nutritional advice in Lincolnshire.
